Mapped NetWare drives/printers unavailable due to NWREDIR protected mode.
Cause:
The 'Microsoft Client for NetWare' networks has been installed. This client uses NWREDIR (a protected mode driver) instead of NETX and VLM as the network redirector. NETX or VLM are processed in the AUTOEXEC.BAT, which is processed before starting network services.
Solution:
Map each network drive to reconnect at logon and remove the 'Map' commands from Autoexec.bat.
1) Re-map the network drives:
a) Double-click the 'Network Neighborhood' icon on the desktop.

b) Do one of the following:
1] Double-click the icon of the computer containing the shared folder.
2] If the network server is not visible, double-click to open 'Entire Network', and then double-click the icon of the computer containing the shared folder.

c) Select a NetWare volume, and right-click. (A pop-up menu appears.)
d) Select 'Map Network Drive...' from the pop-up menu. (The 'Map Network Drive' dialog box appears.)
e) Select the drive letter you want to map to the share from the 'Drive' drop-down list box.
f) Select the 'Reconnect at logon' check box.
g) Click 'OK'.
h) Repeat steps 1) b) - 1) g) for each drive you need to map.
2) If a NetWare printer is not available, then set up a network printer:
a) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
b) Select 'Settings' and select 'Printers'.

c) Double-click the 'Add Printer' icon. (The 'Add Printer Wizard' dialog box appears.)

d) Click 'Next'.
e) Select the 'Network Printer' radio button.
f) Click 'Next'.

g) Type the network path, including the network drive letter, or click 'Browse...' to browse for the desired network printer.
h) Select either the 'Yes' or 'No' radio button to specify whether or not to print from MS-DOS-based programs.
i) Click 'Next'.
j) Click 'Next'.
k) Select a manufacturer and a printer from the list boxes.
l) Click 'Next.'
m) (Optional) Type a name for the printer.

n) Select either the 'Yes' or 'No' radio button to specify whether or not to make this printer the default printer for Windows.
o) Click 'Next'.
p) Select 'Yes' or 'No' to print a test page.
q) Click 'Finish'.
3) Remove the Map and printer commands from Autoexec.bat:
a) Edit Autoexec.bat.
b) Type REM in front of the statements mapping drives and printer.
c) Save Autoexec.bat.
